When you've got nothing and everything

I’ve lost my home, but gained a bowl of olives.
Ever since we were children my mother would always remind my sisters and I to “count our blessings”. At a young age I thought it was just something she said. Whilst a teen I was almost convinced she needed someone to appreciate her more (I may still believe that... thank you, momma!). As a young adult, I finally started to count my blessings...
One million zillion.
I am nearing my 27th birthday and so much has changed. I am amidst a devastating divorce with whom I had once called my best friend. I have given my two adoring pups (Abby and Penny) to a nice man I met through Craigslist. I have packed up my belongings and have sold my perfectly situated home in Oakland, CA. I am in a completely new territory of life.
Yet, somehow, my bowl of olives have never tasted better.
I am learning how to embrace myself amidst the greatest changes, and this is beautiful.
One million zillion and one.
